Amiel Vural ’11 was hit by an oncoming vehicle last night at around 9:05 p.m. He was leaving Baker Hall after an exam and was struck on the East Avenue crosswalk. Vural was alert and conscious after the incident, although he was taken to Cayuga Medical Center by ambulance, according to Simeon Moss ’73, director of Cornell Press Relations.

The driver, Marc Silberman ’12, has been charged with a violation for failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian at a crosswalk. Silberman was issued a summons to appear in Ithaca City Court.

Many students were leaving Baker Hall after a prelim when the accident happened. According to student witnesses, the “pouring rain” at that time might have contributed to the accident.
