Cornell's recognition of Labor Day was long overdue. But the decision to sacrifice a day of Orientation Week to replace the off day was misguided.

As part of two new orientation week initiatives, freshman watched a video and were offered to attend an optional series of discussions in order to expose them to the reality of college life.
