Former President Lehman ’77 To Speak at C.U. in November

Former President Jeffrey S. Lehman ’77 will present a talk entitled “From Welfare State to Welfare Planet” as part of the Cornell Institute for Public Affairs 2006-07 Colloquium Series, CIPA announced recently.

The talk will occur at 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 9 in Bache Auditorium of Malott Hall.

Lehman’s research and teaching has focused on poverty, taxation and the American welfare state. Currently a Cornell professor of law, Lehman currently serves as a senior scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C. on a project called “Multilateral Cooperation among Transnational Research Universities.”

Lehman was the immediate past president of Cornell, the 11th in the University’s history, and served from July 2003 to July 2005.

Lehman's year at the Wilson Center ended in August. He now lives in New York City with his wife, who's doing development at Columbia.
