Ryan Wittman ’10 has signed with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants — the official minor league affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers and Milwaukee Bucks. He will replace Wayne Chism, who was released last week due to a back injury. The reigning Ivy League Player of the Year and Sun Athlete of the Year is expected to play this Thursday night at 7 p.m. against the Austin Toros at the Memorial Coliseum.
Wittman started out the season playing for Fulgor Libertas Forli, which competes in Italy’s second division. His contract was reportedly terminated by mutual agreement on Jan. 17. The 6-7 small forward was second on the team in scoring — averaging 14.5 ppg. — in 14 games, and also led Forli in minutes played.
Wittman now joins the Mad Ants, a team that currently sits at 13-16 — good for third place — in the D-League's Eastern Conference standings.
