Ithaca Police Investigate Report of Death Near Suspension Bridge

The Ithaca City Police Department temporarily closed the suspension bridge and the Stewart Avenue Bridge this afternoon after a witness reported seeing a man jump off the suspension bridge.

Tompkins County Approves Ithaca Waterfront Trail
March 12th, 2010Spectators at Cornell crew races will soon have a more intimate view of the action. After nearly three years of delay, the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce has decided to bypass the second phase of the Cayuga Waterfront Trail Initiative (CWTI) and begin construction on phase three, connecting the Ithaca Farmers’ Market to Stewart Park, according to Jean McPheeters, chamber of commerce president. The trail also cuts through the University’s rowing center. Read More

March 12th, 2010The plethora of overlapping student groups on campus will soon be experiencing some scrutiny, as the Student Assembly Organizational Review Committee springs into action this semester. The committee will review new groups hoping to form and begin the process of consolidating existing groups with similar purposes.
The committee was created by Resolution 29 last fall. This resolution gave the Student Assembly the power to revoke the status of certain student organizations, or to deny requests to form new student groups starting from fall of 2010. Read More
Police Respond to Suicide Report at Suspension Bridge
March 12th, 2010The Ithaca City Police Department has temporarily closed the suspension bridge and the Stewart Avenue Bridge after a witness reported seeing a man jump off the suspension bridge. Other witnesses found an unattended jacket and backpack containing a wallet, cell phone and other personal possessions on the suspension bridge. Police arrived on the scene around 3:45 p.m. and are currently investigating the situation. Read More
