A three-game road trip is coming to a close as the men’s lacrosse team prepares to play in the New England Lacrosse Classic at Gillette Stadium. No. 6 Cornell will take on Dartmouth at noon tomorrow for a game in which the Red hopes to better its all-time series with the Green, 45-14.

Cornell (7-1, 2-0 Ivy League) is coming off of three consecutive wins from Spring Break, in which the Red opened up Ivy League play at home against Yale, and then hit the road to take down both Stony Brook and UPenn. Heading to Massachusetts, the team is excited to play in a third Ivy game. If the Red comes out victorious on Saturday, it will be at the top of the Ivy League.

“We’re really excited to play another Ivy League game,” said senior attackman Ryan Hurley. “We’re glad to have a chance to play at Gillette again.”

The team has been doing very well in the beginning of this season, losing only once to No. 1 Virginia the weekend before Spring Break.

“We’re starting to come together as a team,” Hurley said. “We were a little separated by position but now the midfielders are coming together with the defense and attack.”

The Green (2-4, 0-1) contrasts the Red’s statistics in that it has lost its last three games and lost its only Ivy game to Harvard. Dartmouth’s senior goalie posts a .500 save percentage to the .534 percentage associated with freshman Red goalie AJ Fiore. In order to prepare to play against them, the Red has been watching recent Dartmouth games and implementing strategies during practice to take down the Green.

“AJ’s been playing unbelievably in net and another freshman, Jay Noble, is outstanding on the defensive end. The whole team is coming together unbelievably,” he said.

Noble was named Rookie of the Week on Monday, while sophomore attackman Rob Pannell was named Player of the Week in the Ivy League, two players to look out for in the game against Dartmouth. Pannell assisted half of the goals scored during the last two games, while Noble has been consistently putting up good defense.

The team goes into the game with high hopes and good spirits for what should be a good matchup between the two Ivy League schools.

“[The team] got really fired up over Spring Break,” Hurley said, adding that it was a good bonding experience for the team members.
