After a disappointing season by Cornell standards, the sprint football team finished the year on a high note, beating Mansfield in its season finale. The Red thoroughly dominated on both the defensive and offensive side of the ball — with two key special teams miscues preventing Cornell from winning in a blowout.

The sprint football team averted near disaster on its bus trip back to Ithaca. No injuries were sustained in the proceedings following the Red's loss to navy, 42-21.

The sprint football team (2-1) has held the highest varsity team grade point average — consistently in the 3.5 range — for 15 years straight.

A strong start did not sustain for the sprint football team, as the Red fell to Post, 25-20, after a late fourth quarter comeback.

The sprint football team opened its season with a victory on the road against Mansfield, 37-23, with strong performances from younger players making the key difference in the contest.

On Saturday, Cornell’s sprint football team will kick off its season in Mansfield, Pa. for the second year in a row. Since Mansfield joined the CSFL in 2008, the Red has won all six meetings.
