Men's basketball graduated seniors Ryan Wittman and Jeff Foote have been "doing work" this summer, working out for various NBA teams in preparation for this month's draft and NBA Summer League. Meanwhile, another Cornell all-time great has been inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Newman Nation embraced the hugely successful class of 2010 for one last weekend. The eight seniors on the basketball team rewarded their fans with two final exciting victories at home. The Red (25-4, 11-1 Ivy) used dominant defensive efforts to take down Princeton (17-8, 8-3 Ivy) and Penn (5-20, 4-7 Ivy) and secure at least a share of a third-straight Ivy League championship.

Men's basketball 68, Penn 48

The men's basketball team had its revenge Saturday, downing Penn 68-48 on Senior Night at Newman Arena. With the win, Cornell moves to 25-4 on the season, but more importantly clinches at least a share of the Ivy League title. Due to both Harvard and Princeton also securing comfortable victories, the Red must wait until next weekend against Brown and Yale to clinch the title outright.

The End of an Era

This weekend Cornell’s all-time leading scorer, Ryan Wittman, and all-time assists leader, Louis Dale, will take to the hardwood at Newman Arena for the final time. Nevertheless, this is not the time for sentimental farewell sendoffs. This year’s senior class has attained unparalleled success in program history, but the Red still has some unfinished business left to take care of in its quest to three-peat as Ivy League champions.

Women's Basketball Earns First Ivy Win of Season Against Penn

The women’s basketball team was glad to be home this weekend, as it beat Penn on Friday night, 59-52, to earn its first Ivy League victory of the season. The celebration was short-lived, however, as the Red fell to undefeated, conference-leader Princeton, 72-49, the following evening.

Wrestling Dominates Weekend Competition

There are wins. And then there are blowouts. The wrestling team was on the giving end of two such victories this past weekend, defeating Penn on its home turf, 31-3, before traveling to Princeton to send an even harsher message to the Tigers with a commanding, 46-3 win, including five pins with seven wins including bonus points.

The race for the Ivy League crown arguably just got a whole lot more interesting, as the No. 22 men’s basketball team fell, 79-64, to Penn on Friday night at the Palestra, in what can only be described as a shocking upset.

Wrestling to Take On Ivy League Rivals

The wrestling team will be travel to Philadelphia, Pa., and Princeton, N.J., this weekend to face Ivy League foes Penn and Princeton. After dismantling Columbia (6-7-1, 0-1) and Hofstra (5-10-2) last weekend, the Red now hopes to improve on its overall record of 5-4-1 (1-0 Ivy).

Football Ends Season With 34-0 Loss to Penn

The football team ended its 2009 campaign with a whimper, falling 34-0 to Penn, which claimed its 11th outright Ivy League championship, and seventh of coach Al Bagnoli’s 18-year tenure. The Quakers, ranked No. 24 in the Football Championship Subdivision, used its suffocating defense to hold the Red to just 110 yards of offense and four first downs.
