At Wednesday’s Faculty Senate meeting, professors slammed the Calendar Committee’s latest proposal to revise the academic calendar, saying the changes could prove detrimental to both the quality of students’ academic experiences and their mental health.

With a record voter turnout of 5,425 students, the Student Assembly announced its newly elected officials online Wednesday night.

At a forum on Tuesday, candidates running for the Student Assembly positions of president, executive vice president, undesignated, international, LGBTQ, minority and women’s issues at-large representatives told their peers what they would do to work on student health, safety and diversity issues. Only candidates running for positions voted on by the entire student body participated.

A candidate for Student Assembly attempted to take credit for another candidate’s signatures by crossing off the petition’s original name and replacing it with her own, documents obtained by The Sun Tuesday night indicated.

Student Assembly Vice President Adam Gitlin ’13 is running uncontested to be S.A. President for the next year. No other applicants for the position turned in the materials by the necessary due date for the position of Monday at noon, according to S.A. President Natalie Raps ’12.  

Both the Interfraternity Council and the Student Assembly unanimously passed resolutions this week in support of a campaign to spread awareness about New York State’s Good Samaritan law.

Drawing nearly 500 students, The Bear’s Den — a new pub nestled in Willard Straight Hall’s Ivy Room — kicked off its soft opening with a Super Bowl party Sunday evening. Although it was a dry run for the pub, plenty of liquor was served.

After a tight budget forced the Student Assembly  to deny several student organizations’ requests for increased funding, the S.A. cut its own budget by 10.2 percent. The decision will allow the S.A. to alleviate some of the funding shortfall other organizations face for the next year.
